Micronized
Micronized progesterone is a bioidentical form of the naturally occurring hormone, molecularly identical to what the body produces. It is essential in BHRT for balancing estrogen therapy, protecting the endometrium, and supporting sleep, mood, and overall hormonal equilibrium.

Progesterone binds to progesterone receptors (PR-A and PR-B), modulating endometrial proliferation, supporting the secretory phase of the menstrual cycle, and exerting calming effects through conversion to allopregnanolone — a neurosteroid that enhances GABA-A receptor activity.
Oral micronized progesterone may cause drowsiness, making evening dosing preferable. Some patients experience bloating or breast tenderness. Always used in conjunction with estrogen when the uterus is intact to prevent endometrial hyperplasia.
